Help / Owners & exceptions
Owners, priority and exceptions
Assign batch owners and priority, flag short picks, damage and backorders, and resolve exceptions before orders are fulfilled.
Once you have two or more people in Team, each batch can have an owner: the person responsible for its next step. Use Manage on a work board row to assign, reassign, or release a batch, and to mark it High or Urgent (urgent work sorts up within its lane). Taking a batch someone else has asks for a reason, and a picker can claim an unowned batch from their picker link. The owner clears by itself when the batch moves on to the next phase (picking, then packing, then shipping), so it always means "who is on it now". It is separate from who picked or packed it.
Open a batch and the Activity card lists what happened and when: stage changes, fulfillment, owner changes, and exceptions, with the name it was recorded as and whether it came from the Shopify admin or a picker link. Like "Recorded as" on the pick and pack screens, that is a record of who was selected, not proof of who was holding the device.
Every flag raised while picking, packing, or shipping is an exception. The Exceptions card on the batch shows each one with a status:
- Open, Waiting (for stock, a customer reply, and so on), and Partly handled all still hold the order back from fulfillment.
- Resolved means it is sorted. Allow to ship anyway lets the order go out regardless and asks you to say why. Either way the order is included in fulfillment like any other.
- You can give an exception to someone on your team. If an order ships despite an open exception, Pickadoodl closes it for you as "Fulfilled with exception".
